Overview

Established in 2013, the Higher Education Authority (HEA) of Zambia is a government body responsible for the regulation, coordination and funding of higher education in the country. Its main role is to promote quality in higher education institutions through the development of policies, guidelines and standards for teaching, learning, research and innovation.

The HEA of Zambia is also responsible for allocating funds to higher education institutions, providing support to students through loans and scholarships and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Additionally, it collaborates with international organizations and stakeholders to enhance the quality of higher education in Zambia and increase the country's participation in regional and global initiatives in the field of education.
