Founded in 1993, the Cape Higher Education Consortium (CHEC) is a partnership of four universities in the Western Cape province of South Africa: the University of Cape Town, Stellenbosch University, the University of the Western Cape and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. The aim of CHEC is to strengthen the higher education system in the region through collaboration and joint initiatives.
CHEC's activities include facilitating joint research and academic programmes, sharing of resources and expertise and promoting innovation and excellence in teaching and learning. The consortium also advocates for policies and funding that support the growth and development of higher education in the region.
Considering all this, according to uniRank CHEC plays an important role in promoting collaboration and cooperation among universities in the Western Cape and contributing to the advancement of higher education in the region.
