The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) is the coordinating body for Virginia's system of higher education. It was established in 1956 and is responsible for planning and developing policy for Virginia's public and private colleges and universities.
SCHEV's mission is to ensure that Virginia has an accessible, affordable and high-quality system of higher education that meets the needs of its students, workforce and economy.
