Overview

Established in 1934, the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE) is an independent agency in the state of Kentucky responsible for overseeing and coordinating postsecondary education in the state. The council sets policies and guidelines for public and private universities, community and technical colleges and other postsecondary institutions in Kentucky. Its mission is to promote access to quality education and to ensure that Kentucky's workforce is equipped with the skills needed to compete in the global economy. The CPE works closely with institutions to develop academic programs, improve graduation rates and address workforce needs. It also provides financial aid and scholarship programs to help students afford college.
