Council on Social Work Education, Commission on Accreditation

Council on Social Work Education, Commission on Accreditation

Overview

Established in 1952, the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) is a nonprofit national association representing more than 800 accredited social work education programs.

The CSWE's Commission on Accreditation (COA) is responsible for ensuring that social work programs meet the organization's standards for quality and consistency. The COA provides accreditation to bachelor's and master's degree programs in social work, as well as doctoral programs in social welfare.

The COA also works to promote continuous improvement and innovation in social work education. Graduating from a CSWE-accredited program is often a requirement for social workers to be eligible for state licensure.
