Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation

Overview

The Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA) is a non-profit organization that is responsible for accrediting massage therapy education programs in the United States. The COMTA was established in 1992 to promote the quality of massage therapy education and training programs and to protect the public by ensuring that graduates of accredited programs are competent and well-prepared to provide safe and effective massage therapy services.

The COMTA's accreditation process includes a comprehensive review of the massage therapy program's curriculum, faculty qualifications, facilities, resources and student outcomes. Accredited programs are required to demonstrate that they meet or exceed the COMTA's standards for educational quality and student performance.

In addition to accreditation, the COMTA also provides educational resources and support for massage therapy programs and practitioners, including continuing education opportunities, professional development programs and advocacy for the massage therapy profession.

Considering all this, according to uniRank the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation plays an important role in ensuring the quality and safety of massage therapy education and training programs in the United States and in promoting the advancement of the massage therapy profession.
