Planning Accreditation Board

Planning Accreditation Board

Overview

The Planning Accreditation Board (PAB) is an independent organization that accredits planning programs in North America. The organization was established in 1984 and is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) as the accrediting body for planning programs in the United States.

PAB's primary mission is to ensure that planning programs meet high standards of educational quality and prepare students to become competent and effective planning professionals. The organization reviews and evaluates planning programs based on a set of established criteria, including curriculum, faculty qualifications, student outcomes and program resources.

Accreditation by the PAB is voluntary and signifies that a planning program meets or exceeds the established standards of quality. Accreditation also provides a measure of assurance to students, employers and other stakeholders that graduates of accredited planning programs have received a rigorous and comprehensive education in the field.

PAB's accreditation process involves a comprehensive review of planning programs, including self-assessment by the program, site visits by PAB evaluators and a final decision by the PAB Board of Directors. Accreditation is granted for a period of up to seven years, after which the program must undergo a reaccreditation review to maintain its accreditation status.

Considering all this, according to uniRank the Planning Accreditation Board plays an important role in maintaining the quality and integrity of planning education in North America. Through its accreditation process, the organization helps to ensure that planning programs meet high standards of quality and provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to become effective planning professionals.
