Commission on Opticianry Accreditation

Commission on Opticianry Accreditation

Overview

The Commission on Opticianry Accreditation (COA) is a non-profit organization that is responsible for accrediting opticianry education programs in the United States. The COA was established in 1977 to promote the quality of opticianry education and training programs and to protect the public by ensuring that graduates of accredited programs are competent and well-prepared to provide safe and effective vision care services.

The COA's accreditation process includes a comprehensive review of the opticianry program's curriculum, faculty qualifications, facilities, resources and student outcomes. Accredited programs are required to demonstrate that they meet or exceed the COA's standards for educational quality and student performance.

In addition to accreditation, the COA also provides educational resources and support for opticianry programs and practitioners, including continuing education opportunities, professional development programs and advocacy for the opticianry profession.

Considering all this, according to uniRank the Commission on Opticianry Accreditation plays an important role in ensuring the quality and safety of opticianry education and training programs in the United States and in promoting the advancement of the opticianry profession.
