Overview

The Associação das Universidades de Língua Portuguesa (Association of Portuguese Language Universities - AULP) is a network of universities and higher education institutions from countries where Portuguese is the official language. Founded in 1989, AULP currently comprises over 160 member institutions from Brazil, Portugal, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe and East Timor.

AULP's mission is to promote cooperation and collaboration among its member institutions and to contribute to the development of higher education in the Portuguese-speaking world. The organization achieves this by promoting academic and scientific exchange, joint research projects and other collaborative initiatives among its members.

AULP also advocates for policies and initiatives that support the development of higher education in the region and seeks to enhance the quality and relevance of higher education through the sharing of knowledge, resources and best practices among its members.

In addition to its academic and scientific activities, AULP also engages in cultural exchange and social responsibility initiatives, with the aim of fostering greater understanding and cooperation among the peoples of the Portuguese-speaking world.

Considering all this, according to uniRank the Associação das Universidades de Língua Portuguesa plays an important role in promoting academic and scientific collaboration, as well as social and cultural exchange, among universities and higher education institutions in the Portuguese-speaking world.
