Established in 1979, Conselho de Reitores das Universidades Portuguesas (CRUP) is the Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities, an association of the rectors of public and private universities in Portugal. The main objective of CRUP is to promote cooperation and coordination among its member universities in order to enhance the quality and relevance of higher education and research in Portugal.
One of the key roles of CRUP is to provide a platform for dialogue and exchange of best practices among its member universities. Through various committees and working groups, CRUP works on a wide range of topics related to higher education, including internationalization, research and innovation, teaching and learning and student mobility.
CRUP also plays an important role in representing the interests of its member universities at the national and international level. It maintains strong relationships with government agencies, other higher education associations and international organizations such as the European University Association and the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries.
