Consejo para la Acreditación de la Educación Superior (Council for the Accreditation of Higher Education or COPAES) is an independent, non-governmental organization based in Mexico. It was established in 1999 and its main objective is to promote and ensure the quality of higher education in Mexico.
COPAES is responsible for accrediting programs and institutions of higher education in Mexico. The organization evaluates institutions and programs against national and international standards and provides guidance and support to help institutions improve the quality of their educational programs.
COPAES works with a broad range of stakeholders, including universities, government agencies, employers and professional associations. The organization promotes collaboration and dialogue among these stakeholders to improve the quality and relevance of higher education in Mexico.
In addition to its accreditation activities, COPAES is involved in a range of other initiatives aimed at improving the quality of higher education in Mexico. These include the development of guidelines and best practices for quality assurance, research on quality assurance and accreditation and the promotion of international cooperation and collaboration.
