Quality and Qualifications Ireland

Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) is a public agency responsible for ensuring the quality and standards of the Irish higher education and training system. It was established in 2012 through the amalgamation of four existing bodies, namely the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland, the Further Education and Training Awards Council, the Higher Education and Training Awards Council and the Irish Universities Quality Board.

QQI's primary responsibilities include setting the standards and maintaining the quality of education and training programs in Ireland, providing recognition and certification of qualifications and awards, overseeing the validation of programs delivered by Irish providers and promoting quality assurance and enhancement in the higher education and training sectors.

QQI also works to ensure the transparency and comparability of qualifications, making it easier for students to transfer their qualifications between different institutions and countries. Additionally, QQI provides advice and support to education providers and policymakers on issues related to qualifications, assessment and quality assurance.
