Established in 2014, the Department of Education, Culture, Sports and Church is responsible for overseeing and implementing policies related to education, culture, sports and religious affairs in Greenland.
Some of the specific responsibilities of the department include:
- Developing and implementing education policies and curricula for schools in Greenland, including vocational training and adult education programs.
- Supporting and promoting Greenlandic culture, including the arts, music and literature.
- Managing and funding sports programs and facilities across the country.
- Overseeing the operations of the Church of Greenland, which is the official church of the country and plays an important role in the spiritual and cultural life of many Greenlanders.
The Department of Education, Culture, Sports and Church is headed by a minister who is appointed by the Prime Minister of Greenland.
