Overview

The Conferencia de Rectores de las Universidades Españolas (CRUE) is the national Conference of rectors of Spanish universities. Founded in 1994, it represents 76 public and private Spanish universities, as well as the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Spanish National Distance Education University (UNED).

CRUE works to promote and develop the Spanish university system, both nationally and internationally. The organization's main objectives include promoting academic excellence and quality assurance in higher education, supporting research and innovation and advocating for the interests of Spanish universities and their students at the national and European level.

CRUE serves as a platform for dialogue and collaboration among its member universities, facilitating the exchange of best practices and experiences. It also works closely with national and regional authorities, as well as with other stakeholders in the higher education sector, to influence public policy and shape the future of higher education in Spain.

In addition to its advocacy and networking activities, CRUE provides a range of services and resources to its member institutions, including assistance with legal and administrative issues, support for quality assurance and accreditation processes and access to funding opportunities and research grants.
