Danmarks Akkrediteringsinstitution - DEA (Danish Accreditation Institution) is an independent national agency responsible for accreditation and quality assurance of higher education institutions and programs in Denmark. The agency was established in 2007 and operates under the Ministry of Higher Education and Science.
Danmarks Akkrediteringsinstitution's primary role is to ensure that higher education institutions in Denmark meet national and international quality standards in terms of teaching, research and service to society. It does this by conducting institutional and programmatic accreditation, monitoring the quality of higher education and providing guidance and support to institutions in improving their quality.
The Danish Accreditation Institution works closely with other national and international agencies involved in higher education quality assurance, such as the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and the Danish Accreditation Council (Rådet for Godkendelse af Uddannelsesinstitutioner). Its activities are guided by the Danish Higher Education Act and other relevant regulations and policies.
