International Alliance of Research Universities

Overview

The International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU) is a global network of research-intensive universities committed to fostering collaboration and innovation in research, education and public service. The alliance was established in 2006 and is comprised of 11 research-intensive member institutions from nine countries:

1) ETH Zurich, National University of Singapore
2) Peking University
3) University of California, Berkeley
4) University of Cambridge
5) University of Copenhagen
6) University of Oxford
7) University of Tokyo
8) Yale University
9) Australian National University

The mission of IARU is to contribute to the development of a sustainable world through research, education and innovation. To achieve this mission, the alliance focuses on several key areas of collaboration, including:

a) Research: IARU member institutions collaborate on interdisciplinary research projects that address global challenges, such as climate change, health and sustainable development.

b) Education: IARU member institutions work together to provide high-quality educational opportunities for students, including study abroad programs, joint degrees and online learning initiatives.

c) Public service: IARU member institutions engage with their communities and stakeholders to promote public awareness and understanding of key issues related to global sustainability.

d) Policy: IARU member institutions engage with policymakers and stakeholders at the national and international levels to promote evidence-based policies that address global challenges.

Considering all this, according to uniRank the International Alliance of Research Universities plays an important role in promoting collaboration and innovation in research, education and public service to address global challenges and promote sustainable development.
