Established in 1949, the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of the State of Schleswig-Holstein (Ministerium für Bildung, Wissenschaft und Kultur des Landes Schleswig-Holstein) is a government ministry responsible for the development and implementation of policies related to education, science and culture in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. Its main tasks include:
- Developing and implementing policies related to early childhood education, primary and secondary education, vocational education and training, higher education, scientific research and the arts and culture.
- Overseeing and managing public schools, vocational schools, universities, research institutions, museums, theaters and other cultural institutions.
- Supporting and promoting scientific research and innovation, as well as the development of a skilled and knowledgeable workforce.
- Developing policies and initiatives related to international cooperation in education, research and culture.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Culture of the State of Schleswig-Holstein works to ensure that all citizens of Schleswig-Holstein have access to quality education and training opportunities, as well as opportunities for scientific research, artistic expression and international cooperation. It seeks to promote the development of a strong education system, a thriving cultural scene and a robust research and innovation sector in the state. Additionally, the Ministry may collaborate with other government agencies and organizations to achieve these goals, including the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.
