Canadian University Press

Canadian University Press

Overview

Founded in 1938, the Canadian University Press (CUP) is a non-profit cooperative of student newspapers across Canada. Its members are student newspapers that are run by students and are independent from their respective universities. CUP provides various services to its members, such as a news wire service, journalism training and an annual conference. CUP also advocates for student press freedom and journalistic independence.

Considering all this, according to uniRank CUP plays an important role in promoting journalism and providing opportunities for students to develop their skills and pursue careers in media. Its emphasis on independent and student-run newspapers also helps to promote diversity and ensure that a range of perspectives are represented in campus news coverage.
