National Institute of Educational Studies and Investigations
Overview
Established in 1937, the National Institute of Educational Studies and Investigations (Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira, INEP) is a Brazilian governmental agency responsible for developing and coordinating educational assessments and evaluations at all levels of education, from early childhood to higher education.
It is also responsible for collecting and analyzing data on education in Brazil, as well as promoting research and studies on education. INEP plays an important role in ensuring the quality of education in Brazil and informing policy decisions related to education.
