Established in 1961, the Seoul Women's University is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large metropolis of Seoul (population range of over 5,000,000 inhabitants). Officially recognized by the Ministry of Education of Korea, Seoul Women's University (SWU) is a medium-sized (uniRank enrollment range: 8,000-8,999 students) women only South Korean higher education institution formally affiliated with the Christian-Protestant religion.
